Jerrold P. Katz, Ph.D.
Principal and Founder

Dr. Jerrold Katz is an Accredited Senior Appraiser, a Certified Business Appraiser and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He has analyzed and developed evidence for numerous business related litigation matters, matrimonial and tax disputes; his experience includes the valuation of all types of businesses, including professional practices.

Dr. Katz has testified as an expert witness on the results of his analysis. He has served as an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers (now FINRA), the American Stock Exchange, and the American Arbitration Association. Dr. Katz has also performed strategic planning studies and has conducted market research projects for consumer and industrial products and services. His diverse background includes extensive experience in marketing/market research, economics/econometrics, operations research, financial modeling, quantitative analysis, statistical analysis, and EDP. Dr. Katz has consulted to a broad spectrum of firms, including Fortune 100 companies and financial institutions, on problems in these areas and he has held senior level positions at firms in the distribution, manufacturing and service industries.

Previously, Dr.Katz was Vice-president and Director at The Durkin Company in Boston, Principal at Tofias, Fleishman, Shapiro & Co, Principal at Noble Business Decision, Manager with Coopers & Lybrand and Associate Professor of Marketing and Operations at Babson College, one of the Founding Professors at Simmons College Graduate School of Management and Instructor at Columbia University. He has published in major journals and has presented papers at a number of professional conferences.

Education:

Hal S. Tepfer
Actuary

Mr. Tepfer is a Fellow of Society of Actuaries and Enrolled Actuary with the Joint Board for Enrollment of Actuaries.

His areas of expertise are actuarial valuation, Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, FASB106 and FASB 87 expense calculation, and Executive Compensation.

Mr. Tepfer also has extensive experience in evaluating and designing retirement plans, including "age weighted", "cross tested" profit sharing plans, target benefit plans. He performs IRS-mandated non-discrimination testing (Sections 401 and 415) and reviews plan documents ad fillings with IRS for qualifications of plans, both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution.

He has been a member of the management team at various companies: Principal and Consulting Actuary with Tofias, Fleishman, Shapiro & Co.; Vice-President and Consulting Actuary with Benefits Advisors of New England; Vice-President with The Pentad Corporation; and Consulting Actuary with Alexander Consulting Group.

Mr. Tepfer was a faculty member and has taught at Bentley College, as well as Course Instructor for the American Society of Pension Actuaries and speaker for several professional associations.

Education:

Shira N. Krebs
Analyst

Ms. Krebs focuses on Information Technology, Operations Management and Digital Economics. She has done several valuations of medical practices and has extensive understanding of the medical system. As an intern at Pfizer, Inc. she developed an Internet strategy to enhance relationships with physicians and designed a pilot web site for the community of medical professionals associated with Pfizer. Her experience includes valuations of investment portfolio in the biotechnology industry; valuation of business plans; assessment of the global market demand for broadband communications; supply-chain analysis for a logistics company; and extensive analysis of the publishing industry and its potential market. She is familiar with sophisticated statistical methods used in the analysis of economic and financial data, and to make projections about the viability of investment strategies. Before joining J.P.Katz & Associates, LLC, Ms. Krebs was a consultant with Arthur D. Little, Inc.
